Other October Highlights in Kigali!

AIC took a trip to Norman's Gardens.  A very sweet man
that planted every plant here on his property along side his wife.
She recently died and as he told us about her you could see
and hear the love he had for her and how he misses her.

One of his "little" hibiscus.

Great pot warmer.

These pink flowers were literally suspended on
long stems that hung from the tree.
Very unique flowers but I can't remember the name of the plant.

This  caladium I purchased as a small plant from Norman a couple years ago. It looks and feels like velvet and is quite nice to welcome people in the front door.

So we welcomed Aiste and her
little baby boy-to-be to a baby shower.

 Lots of friends
a beautiful cake made by Dima, holding it.
great food

fun times ( there were silly games, too)
and wonderful presents.
At the end of the shower, Aiste said she used to see
parties like this on TV and dreamed that one
day she would have one all her own.
Today her dream came true!
We're so happy we were able to make
that happen for her.

PS. and now she has a beautiful little boy
that she has finally brought back to Kigali!

From Parties to Leadership Training.

Vivian and I were the volunteer organizers for the
GLOBAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT AT CCR.
The young adults from Bridge 2 Rwanda were
fabulous to work with!
Pastor Brett out front on a break..
Keli, Brett's wife and daugther ( on the left)
talking with some of the participants.
Coffee break time on the lawn.  This two day conference has been great training for all but especially for those who have never experienced such powerful speakers.  It is now an annual event in Kigali to help more & more folks own their leadership style.
And last but not least…  Christine and her 2 little ones
Emile and Natasha.
We have become friends at church and she often comes to
visit.  Emile is in P4 and #1 in his class and Natasha is in P1 and is 4th in her class.  Why am I telling you this?  Because these folks have VERY little… of anything… yet they strive to do their best and I am so proud of them.   These 2 kids will be leaders in what ever they choose to do if they continue as they are doing now…  They use NO excuses and that is refreshing.

I guess you could say that the theme of October
was learning.

Learning about plants, learning about becoming a mom,
learning leadership skills and learning that
it doesn't matter what you have…
to decide what you can become.

love,
margie
