Maggie, Barb and Kate Rehberg Come to Rwanda!

Maggie was the First Rehberg to appear in Kigali!  We we so thrilled that she was here at the end of January..
Maggie's work with World Relief brought her here even before we returned from the States but fortunately I got back to spend one day with her! It was so wonderful to have some time with Maggie!

Morning Breakfast on the patio….Talks about jobs,
family, Maggie's world travels and next steps.

At the new airport entrance in Kigali.. Sending Maggie off to see her sister Kate in Nairobi…
In less than a month her Mom and Kate will be coming to visit Kigali….  We are so excited to have them all
with us..  Just wondering where in the world Dad, Doug is…. ???

OK.. that was a fast few weeks….Maggie flying out of the airport
and Barb and Kate arriving at the airport.

They were coming from Nairobi… and Kate could only stay the weekend…so we were on fast track.
Only wish Maggie and Doug and these two
could have been here at the same time!

First stop on this whirlwind day was CARDS FROM AFRICA.

Paper making process was in full swing.

Lots and lots of different colors!
They dye them all here, too!
This was a room I had never seen before.  The little wooden box with the little tiny fan is a drying/dehumidifier
box.  Apparently large quantities of paper can be dried here before the paper making processing even begins.

During the rainy season the newly made and dyed paper can't be hung outside so this is the paper drying room…
after the dying process!

Then they are all constructed and pieced together from tiny little cut and glued pieces!

The end results are quite wonderful!

On to meet Bruce at CMU and since Barb has a CMU grad…  she, too had to have her picture taken here.

I like this picture of Bruce…so relaxed!

Stopping at RzManna for lunch and Kate
runs into a friend from Nairobi!!!
Small world!
We stopped at home for a short break and picked up Innocent and took off for Gitarama to see Mama and the kids.

A RARE day to see the Volcanoes… some 100 kilometers away peeking out from behind the clouds!

Kate capturing the valley ahead of the hills.
Sweet!
Always great to have Innocent with us!

The rest of the day…..

(to be continued)

love,
margie
