From Our House to Our House!

FALL was taking over more every day and the thing I noticed most while doing yard work even way back in early September was that the acorns and hickory nuts had already fallen from the trees.

This is much earlier than usual.. and a lot of folks were talking about the fact that this was a sign of a BAD winter.  By this time --in October… there were NO nuts left on the ground.  The squirrels had gathered all of them and stashed them away so it was time to prepare for a rough winter!  They warned us!!!

But at this time..  it is just all about beauty.
The maples…
the Tulip Trees and the Oaks!
The colors were alive!

I planted this little tree from a sprig
when Elizabeth, our first grand child was born.

but then it was time to leave our house in America to go back to our house in Rwanda!

This isn't exactly our house but it is the view of an
oncoming storm from the 2nd floor of our house.
Quite a different view from our balcony as the storm moves in.

And while we were gone… they laid cables all over the streets…next to them and running across them to each house, too.

These 2 news houses are getting done across the street.
Yes, that is scaffolding surrounding the houses.

Looking out the back… we have 2 empty lots growing crops and behind them one deserted construct
and a new one being completed right next to it.  Their fence is made of very thin aluminum and it sounds crackly when they open the gate.   (this is temporary)
Here it comes!

Now we can hear the rain coming across the valley!

and see it coming, too!

and it begins to wash over our house in seconds!

And then … as quickly as it came…it is over.  The rain stops and the hills start to re-emerge!  Check out the house with the red roof…It looked like that in Feb. '15
This is what the house looks like today!   April '15.  Progress just keeps happening.   Sometimes slower that
folks like but progress is still on going!

Our pastor said we are ruined for life…  What?
Well, what he meant is that we have two homes
and we love both of them.   When we are here
we often want to the "there" in our other home.
and when we are there we often want to be "here"!

It is indeed both a gift and a little grief to not
be able to be in two places at once.  But
I think all of our friends and family in
both of our homes and worlds know that
we love them so much and miss them when
we aren't together.

love you all,
margie/ mom/ gramma
