AIC TRIP TO KING FAISAL Hospital in Kigali

Our AIC Group had an outing planned to Visit the Largest
Hospital in Kigali… and i guess, Rwanda, too.
We were met by some wonderful staff folks that began telling us all about King Faisal!
When you move to Rwanda from afar… the one thing people say is that medical care isn't the greatest and i suppose compared to the care we are used to that might be the case… But..see for yourself…
See Barb right there in the middle sitting between Junko, the Ambassador's wife from Japan and Kim, from South Africa with her construction building husband!  Other ladies and men from all over the world joined us for our tour.

The power point started us off.

Gotta love a happy heart and joy on the job, right?

Several Dr's and staffers greeted us and helped answer our questions.
And here how it all began…Who would have known?

This is the sign and the area most of us were interested in--
written in English, Kinyarwanda and French.

I think this is the sonogram room for new moms!  Lisa was checking it out!

X-ray lab…It's been so long since we visited i hope i can remember all the things we saw.

We divided into two groups because there was much to see and it was easier to hear in smaller groups.

Does this look familiar?  The CT scanner,  I believe….  They are waiting for a new one but in the meantime
this one was meeting needs.

This man was a seasoned Dr. and full of great stories filled with lots of humor! We really enjoyed him

The inner court yard area of the hospital…. Since it is summer all the time the walls don't need to be closed in!!

There's Barb again…. soaking it all in!

I can't remember all the explanations…

This was some kind of analysis machine.

Maybe testing blood.

Sorta looks like communion but as i recall he was making individual containers for blood testing!

Everyone was working analyzing blood and testing for all sorts of things.

Oh.. I wish I could remember why I took this picture because it was very interesting at the time.  Anyone remember?

On our way to see the dialysis area.  This is the front of the hospital… and Barb!

I think the thing that I took away from this tour that ended with a question and answer session that was also
very informative was the fact that I would definitely go here for diagnostic tests or small concerns.  The hospital was clean and the staff very caring…For major surgeries I might not come here just because i don't know all the training of the Dr's. but it reassured me that good care can be found in Rwanda if you need it!

Thanks King Faisal staff for a great tour
and for taking time to introduce us to Health Care in Kigali!

Everyone was glad they had come and felt much better about Health Care in Rwanda having had this visit!

love,
margie
