Wanna Go for a Spin?

I just put the laundry in ... so i'm thinking about the spin cycle
and a devotional that I read recently....

It all hangs together with learning English and
 learning more about
the Lord.

The devotional from Chambers says this:

"God gives us the vision, then He takes us down to the valley to batter us into the shape of the vision and it is in the valley that so many of us faint and give way.
Every vision will be made real if we will have patience.

Think of the enormous leisure of God!

He is never in a hurry.  We are always in a frantic hurry...."

Continuing..." The vision is not a castle in the air, but a vision of what God wants you to be.  Let Him put you on His wheel and whirl you as He likes, and as sure as God is God and you are you, you will turn out exactly in accordance with the vision."

And he goes on, "Don't lose heart in the process.  If you have ever had the vision of God, you may try as your like to be satisfied on a lower level,
but God will never let you!"

Ok.. The whirling of the laundry sound is behind me
( I'm on the back patio and the laundry room is right behind me)
and the whirling of these comments has been agitating me now
for a couple of weeks.  I read this on July 6th, to be exact.

Yesterday when trying to help the kids with their English I found myself in
a valley of sorts.  How is is possible to help these teenagers who are so
eagerly trying to learn English when they are in schools with 60 kids in a class
with no textbooks or teachers who could possibly be in command of English
in just a couple year's time??   It is frustrating on so many levels.

Two weeks ago I believe the Lord gave me a vision of one way to help.
Find a school that would provide a Better Education with
more Solid English for them everyday.

One of the girls in the village is in a boarding school where the kids aren't even
getting 2 decent meals a day.

Two of the boys are in public schools where the teachers are trying
their best to teach but they simply don't have the background,
experience or knowledge to be teaching English at the level
these 7th-8th graders need to be learning.

A little background.  French and Kinyarwanda have been the 2 main
languages that teachers have been using in schools.  A couple of years
ago the government declared that all teaching would now take place in English.
They did bring in some English speaking teachers, and did extra training but
as you know,
if you have tried to learn another language it simply isn't an easy thing to learn for
oneself... let alone teach it to someone else.

The vision---as i "see" it---is to try to find the right boarding school for these kids.
Presently I'm exploring one that is about $3000.00 a year per child.  The school
has an excellent reputation and we will visit it soon.  It is about 10 minutes from the kids' home....so their families would be able to visit them without undue economic stress, too.

Bruce had a great talk with our pastor here yesterday and it seems that we could
support some kids and possibly set up payments through the church so that they
could be tax deductible.

CCR has supported about 9-10 kids (or is supporting them now) so this would be
nothing new to the church or its operations.

WHY am I telling you all this?

Well, this is a grand vision.... $3000.00 for 6 years per student.
That's $9,000 per year for 6 years or $54,000.

It seems astronomical.... but I am wondering if there are those of you out there,
teachers, churches, organizations, other individuals and/or  families that would like to help start this process with
Bruce and me.  Yes, it is a little strange asking you all this..but we believe these
children have great promise.  Their verbal skills are already well on the way and
their faith is already very strong for the struggles these children have had to bear.
Most of their verbal English they have picked up from church!

There might be some of you out there that would pay $54,000 for one car.
There might be some of you that wouldn't pay more than $5400 for a car
but perhaps the Lord has been speaking to you about where your money should or could be going to make the life of a child and the world a better place.

If you would like to respond to me about this please email me at

I do not wish to make this a public issue on a comment page...
but if you would like to know more please contact me, personally.

So, the last cycle is spinning right now...

Does the Lord have you "whirling" in thought about all of this?

If so, let us know if you would like to take a spin with us
and we will see how we can get all the wheels going on this end.

I am so grateful to you reading all the way through this whole blog--
and without any pictures!  I was going to send pictures of the kids, but
decided to only send them individually.

And I do pray that if you hear the Lord whirling in you
you will let us know!

much love,
margie

They say repetition is the best teacher, so here it is again.

"Let Him put you on His wheel and whirl you as He likes,
and as sure as God is God and you are you,
you will turn out exactly in accordance with the vision."

Pretty neat picture-- if you think of the potter and His wheel.
