Church and Home!

This Sunday morning we went to our church, CCR or Christ's Church Rwanda.
The sermon was on having a pure heart.  Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall
see God.   Brett told of the boy in Florida who left is post as lifeguard, after he found someone else to cover for him to go out of his area to save a man from drowning.
He did save the man but the end result was he was fired for his decision.
But his heart was pure... He had done the right thing.

Jesus always did the right thing yet he was persecuted and killed for it.
So then, just how pure are our hearts before the Father?
And on what do we base our decisions?
The outcome we seek... or what the outcome is to glorify our Father?

Challenging words of wisdom... and the worship team was great, too!

After taking the kids back to the village we headed to
Sol e Luna for some great pizza.   This too is an open air
restaurant... as are most restaurants here.  The views are great
and having no walls is a real treat!

We had a great lunch... headed home and just relaxed until about
4 when we had asked the neighbors to come over for coffee...
Shortly after they arrived, Koffi and Derrick arrived, too.
We had a fun evening together.

Pillip is in green, then Nelda, Bruce, Sean and Koffi.
We had such fun and funny conversations in Korean,
Korean/English, Kinyarwanda, and English.  It was
challenging sometimes to understand, but eventually i
think we were all understanding each other.

Derrick in plaid, Kristi, Amy, Moohwa, wife of Sean
and their boys, Jung and Pillip.
Cookies and Coffee..at tea time!

Just another angle.  Sean even cancelled his tennis
lesson to stay and be with us all.  This porch is a great meeting
place and so far has provided a great location for relationships to be made.

Mama and her boys!   Moohwa always calls me Madam....
I guess because I am her elder.  I get a kick out of that.

The peace out guys!  Aren't they cute?

This was one of those moments where we are trying
 to understand each other.

A pensive moment for Sean and Nelda as Bruce
is talking about something.

Pillip enjoying some treats.  Koffi got my camera and
 took some close up shots
.

 Nice picture, Nelda.

Which one would you choose for the yearbook?

This is a picture of the guava tree----behind the pillar.
Someone discovered that there was ripe guava so we served it up.

They are delicious and none of us had tried them before.
We still have about 3 on the tree ripening now. There are 3 other
trees in the yard but they are too small to produce anything yet.

Koffi at work again.  Great picture of Pillip..

and Kristi

and Amy

and in conclusion, Moohwa!

We have sweet neighbors, who look over us and who are trying to
learn English.  I'm struggling right now with the best way to help them.

Having Nelda here as a retired English teacher was terrific.
She could see and hear the need.  I wish she could stay here and help me
teach and learn with them, but...

I would appreciate your prayers on just what the best way is
(time wise and educationally) to even meet some of the needs here around us.

Anyone with ESL training, if you have any ideas, please give me some feedback.
Just yesterday in going over another final English exam I realized that
conjugating verbs is a huge need, but trying to teach even a simple
"To go" conjugation is difficult.
It comes out... go, going, be going or some version of that.

I think printing out the conjugations from the internet
might be a place to start.  What do you think?

Love,
margie
