Presidential Scholar's Reception & OCU

Last night I got a very last minute invitation to this reception from Geoffrey and Anne Rugege and I'm so glad. My hair was really dirty from being at the mill during the afternoon.. but just pulled it up and off we went. When we arrived the President's wife, Mrs. Kagame, was speaking. She's an excellent speaker. Very welcoming and encouraging of the partnership that began in 2006 with Oklahoma Christian University!
Mrs. Jeanette Kagame speaking to Presidential Scholars.

They (OCU) have partnered with Rwanda and each year they select students from Rwanda to study in Oklahoma in the areas of engineering and business.  The church we are attending, Christ Church Rwanda was host to the leadership coming from Oklahoma this past week;  men and women from OCU and other business owners who have joined Pres. Kagame in his Vision 2020.  They are indeed people with a vision for the future of Rwanda and its people.

It was a wonderful celebration and I'm so glad that I was invited... thanks, Anne and Geoffrey...(The parents of baby Crystal in the dedication story in Champaign, Il. 33 years ago.)

The 7 students on the right will begin their under graduate studies
and the 4 on the left will continue on towards advanced degrees!

Some of the attendees!

After the event we had drinks (sparkling water) by the pool at the hotel
and listened to live music.  It was a very nice evening... even with dirty hair!

love,
margie
