We decided to take a couple days and head to the
Northern part of Rwanda! Took off for the Virunga
Lodge to see if we could see the Volcanoes and the Lakes!
Wedding Day along the way! |
Lots of Volcanic rock everywhere. |
The haze is thick but the Volcanoes are starting to rise. |
As we get closer to the lodge the views are getting better. |
The lakes begin their appearance, too. |
The Land Before Time! |
A very long fishing boat at the lodge. |
The porch goes all the way around the lodge and views from every side. |
And from the other side of the lodge. Beauty everywhere. |
If only it was a wee bit clearer… This would be toatlly awesome. Been here other times and you couldn't see anything so this was a treat. |
Traveling down the mountain…looking back. |
Ahead!
On the road! |
Over the edge!
Onward to Muzanze! |
Volcano--Cell Tower - Contrast! |
Life has gone mobile EVERYWHERE! |
Going Down! |
Always have to stop and see the kids! |
Delivery vehicles! Two tired! |
Delivery Vehicles! Two legged! |
Back on the Main Road |
This little one just lying along the road watching people and cars! |
Then we saw all of these ladies wtih the peace baskets on their heads walking …. |
Later I found out that they were on their way to a "baby shower"……the Gehemba.. i think they call it. |
Eucalyptus groves and Volcanic Rock fences. |
A cemetery along the road. |
I love this little shop. It is just a container…with window cut out of it and a roof put on top. MTN is one of the telecom companies in Rwanda, like AT&T. |
Once we arrived in Muzane, we looked for the little B&B where we were going to stay.. and this beautiful tree and yard awaited us at The Garden House! |
And they had dogs! |
And little sunbird nests right outside our room. |
And Bruce… in a cute place!
Guests waiting for dinner.. The family table was full of guest staying at the house and those from town staying other places. |
These nests and birds were entertaining, too! |
Mama we feeding her babies! |
The Beautiful Sunbird and her home! |
The early bird caught the worm!! |
The fruit was so ripe and delicious! |
Waiting for other for Breakfast! We're on our 2nd pot of coffee. |
Elaine the owner and her husband bought this house around 2008… and it needed much work. |
They have built a little oasis here with a great garden. |
I think this is why they named it the Garden House! Great visit here and place to relax. |
To top off the day… This little monkey was sitting along side of the road. Great two days in Rwanda with Bruce!! love, margie |
