The Schlesinger Family Arrives and Goes to Boarding School.

Ed and Liora and Daphne and Ben finally in  Africa after a long trip!
CMU/R is hosting the Joint Advisory Boards from
CMU Pittsburgh and Rwanda
and Ed was the first to arrive for this event.   While he and Bruce are doing their thing the rest of us plan on seeing Rwanda.... and meeting some friends!

Note how lightly they travel... Very impressive!

First stop the next day was to meet the kids from Kagugu
at boarding school.
After some Frisbee we just sat in the shade and talked and they all got acquainted.
Ben and Patrick looking serious. ha!

 Talking about school.

Sittin' on the hillside together.

 Something funny was said...

Bein' Real!
Ben and Kofi ( with one "f" or two)

Looking smart!
The "Eye" Guys and Girl!
Ben, Kofi, Cynthia and Patrick

A wonderful afternoon with everyone together...

Hmmm.. two sets of bunny ears???

They got me in the picture, too!
 That Kofi is getting tall!

And then,  shortly just after saying "hello"--'Mwiriwe'...
it was time to say "goodbye"-- 'Murabeho'!

The kids had a great time meeting and talking and have
hopefully begun relationships that can last a lifetime.
How amazing!  All of us adults also had a fun time with them, realizing that these

children from around the world
were meeting here in Kigali... to kick off their friendships.

They had been connected through us and the Kigali kids had written to the Pittsburgh kids and had exchanged a couple emails....
But meeting in person was a different story.

You can say all you want for how wonderful computers
are... and they are great.  But there is NOTHING
to compare to up-close and personal!

I know the kids here in Kigali will never forget the
first time they met Ben and Daphne!

I trust Ben and Daphne will always remember their
new found friends in Kigali, too!

love,
margie
