Christ's Church Rwanda- CCR's 6th Birthday!

We didn't know it but today( last Sunday) was party day at church.
Today Christ Church Rwanda was 6 years old
and it was a great celebration.
A tree outside the church
The big surprise was the full orchestra on the stage....
Rendero is here telling us about the beginning of the church...
and how they wanted the property with the church and school
but it was 1.5 million and the new leaders had 0.
This song introduced the morning... A great lead in to the service and
seeing just what the Lord has done.  The church sits on a mountain top!
Moses also told of the story..and how 6 years later...
the property has been purchased.  Amazing.
The it was time for communion and the orchestra played
"This is my Father's World" right after.
This was on the screen for the first time... Nice... for guests.

Then the orchestra!  NOW you must hear this story.
Kigali has never had an orchestra before.  Oh wait.. RWANDA
has not either.  THIS is the 1st orchestra to play in Rwanda and
it was in our church...  Ok... it is a high school group from our school
and several others and even a few community people have joined to
share their talents.   We expected a high school orchestra sound
until they started to play..

Yes.. there was even a harpist!

The first two chair violinists are the sons of my friend, Meg.

And this is her 3rd son...  Each quite accomplished!

The director was terrific.
They have only played all together for 5 rehearsals.... prior to this day.

And now... MAYBE you can hear a little of what they sounded like.
Of course the mic on my camera isn't going to be the way it really sounded.
Not sure if any of these really recorded... but we'll try it.
Maybe you can hear the baby with the hiccups behind us... cute!

They are having their first concert on Friday night and i expect it will be packed.
It will be held at our church... and it holds about 500.  So.. more on that later.
But today they really blessed the worship service.  This would have been a treat
in America... but here it was more like a space launch. It was the launch of something new!   All the kids were asking
questions about the instruments because most of kids had never seen many of the
instruments before.  It was an awesome morning!

All I can say is Praise the Lord for Music
and Psalm 150.

love,
margie
