Leaving late in the morning from Giseyi we decided to try a new road to drive to Kibuye.... It was surfaced and had
some pretty colorful sights!

Lots of folks doing laundry.... Here from the spring water in the middle of a tea field. |

Always rows and rows of straight-up Eucalyptus trees! |

But THIS sight topped them all.. These women are walking up hill carrying huge stones on their heads!! |

And this little guy was RUNNING up the hill with this mini-boulder on his head. (And I complain if I have to wear a hat) Show your kids this one when they aren't happy about just making their bed or picking up their room! |

Kids just standing along and on the road... Not a busy road so they were looking for some action. I think the one in the plaid shirt was telling Bruce to slow down. |

Must have been market day somewhere because all the goods were heading up hill. |

There had been some mudslides here from the rainy season. |

Sugar cane on this little ones head.. The kids chew on it here like candy bars. |

Then there are the footpaths that take people everywhere. |

The sheer beauty of the hills. |

and all the terraced farming? I never tire of it. |

These guys had been working on all the areas were the mudslides had affected the road. |

And indeed.... we finally found the market area. |

During the dry season.. which we are in now.. the skies are always hazy.. |

The children were out riding their wooden bicycles. |
|
These two were FLYING past us going down hill. Safe? Right! Down a major highway. |
|
Then we got our first glimpse of Lake Kivu from this perspective.. about 3 1/2 hours from when we began. |

And this little love was just walking down the major highway BY HIMSELF...
Once we left the main highway upon arriving in Kibuye, and driving down a very poor road for a very long time... we got to the Cormoran Lodge.

This place was a little nicer than the last....
with a different kind of beauty. |

We ate our meals at this lodge and
could look way up to our little place in the treetops! |

This was one of them. Our second day we took a trip out to the Island. Those pictures will be in the next post....
This is a great place to stay so in case you are wondering you will not regret coming here.... Not a place for any handicap access though!
