Chris and Carrie in Nyungwe National Forest

Today we are off to the Southwestern part of Rwanda…
to the Rain Forest.

The beginning of the canopy!

Carrie and Chris are off on the Canopy Walk…but right after they left Sylvere said he wanted to go….so
joined them just a little late.  It was raining when they left.

But before long the sun shine broke out!

I chilled in the little coffee shop
since I'd already done the walk twice…
and I took pictures of the flowers around!
Two hours and 1/2 later they emerged from the
floor of the rain forest!

 The Three Musketeers! (still breathing)

Our first monkey sighting… on the drive to the lodge.

The tea fields carpet the forest around the edges of the park!

This was a new sight!  Every 4 years the tea plants are cut down and given time to regrow and refurbish…
So, they look dead for a long time before they begin to re-carpet the field.

Arriving at the Nyungwe Forest Lodge!

We got to our rooms and i went out on the deck and there was a great surprise!   All of the following pictures were shot from the deck
about 10 feet from the trees.

COLOMBO MONKEYS
A RATHER RARE SIGHTING!

Uh-oh.. he spotted us.

They jumped on the deck next to our room!

 Colombus monkeys don't have thumbs!

I thought he was going to jump onto my deck.
He looked so longingly at the option.
But then he jumped up further away into the trees
with the others…  Enjoy watching them…

The infinity pool… heated.. sort of!
Water was great!
We got the giggles but i can't remember why!
    I wonder if Chris remembers?

This is where we stayed and enjoyed the quiet most peaceful place amidst the tea fields!

Coming here to Nyungwe is always a highlight
but being with Chris and Carrie
here made it a lot of fun!

Tea plants are one of God's coolest creations
that not too many people have experienced!
They are so rich in color and have a deliciously distinct aroma
that makes me want a cup of tea when i'm here….
but… I'm a coffee drinker.

love,
margie

ps..   I have tried the tea and it is wonderfully fresh!
