Snapshots of the End of 2012-Beginning 2013

Still finishing out our time at the lodge we went from the hot tub to

Cold sledding.....
even Iris.
No sleds... so the kids used cardboard boxes.

The whole crew in their winter armor!

whoops... One more of the crew!!!

"Hey.. this cardboard works!"

Look at Brian go!

Elizabeth and Isaac trying to shove off.

Setting Iris up!

Ready... 3,2,1.....

Down the hill with Daddy!

Look up everyone....
The geese are migrating.
Wow!

Perfect Form

Lots of fun on the little hill right behind the lodge.
Then home again.

The yard full of snow.

Up to Barney's tummy and about 7 inches on the planter!
The moose guarding the place.
The trees on Allegheny Blvd. were so beautiful.
And then Mrs. Frosty Snowman designed by Elizabeth and Brian.
The Stockings still hung at Rob and Michelle's house.
Grampa and the boys watching a great show.

Reese... happy to have everyone home.

The show getting more intense.. Even grampa is awake.

Another day in the snow at our house.
The kids!

The dog!

and a snowball fight

and Katherine...checking out her big feet!

Breakfast in Regent Square with Isaac...

and Iris and Michelle and Adam....Where's Adam?

Quick lunch with Patricia, Mama Arlene's daughter (who lives in Forest Hills)
and a co-worker, Maureen. Got things to bring back to Urukundo for Mama.
Really no wonder who Patricia is if you have met Arlene... They look so much alike.

Time for breakfast~

Elizabeth made us a pancake breakfast.  They were delicious.

The girls in the family.
 Chuckles!!

Happy Momma, Happy Katherine
 Happy gramma, Happy Katherine!
Game Night at Michelle and Adam's!
A funny You-Tube!
Even Settler's Catan!

Then after church at Hebron we join Rob and Michelle for the
service at Fox Chapel. The worship team... leading.
Rob singing and leading worship.
 The newly remolded worship area.

The pastor, leading communion.

The children... being the wise men on Epiphany following the star.
And Wyatt, one of the 4 wise men.
They each carried their own light.

They did such a great job.
After church we headed to Lois Ann and Mike's for lunch and
an early birthday party for Oscar since
Greg and Hannah were home from Singapore and we were home from Africa,
but none of us would be there for his real birthday.
This beautiful woodpecker showed up just before the cake!
The "3" celebration ahead of the fireplace!
Oscar really blowing out the candles!

And so proud of himself.   Fun time being with everyone
and fun watching Oscar open his "digger".

That afternoon I drove quickly to Sharon Stewart's ordination
at Pleasant Hills Community Church.
It was a wonderful worship service and time of celebration.
Also saw many wonderful friends and had time with Ann Marie, too!
Sharon being showered with gifts from Betty... for her charge to her.
 The whole family!
Looky, looky..

The night before we left.... the family came over for pizza!

Watching the "12 Dogs of Christmas"!
Iris really taking it all in.

The next morning a quick breakfast with Barry and Rosanne
and Jeannie before we left this day!  I'm so glad they all came over
before we took off.
 Flying out over Pittsburgh!
Flying over the Blue Ridge Mountains!

Landing in Atlanta
And then the fun surprise....
Meeting our friends of 20 years, the Gastaldo's, Bob & Elvira at the Atlanta Airport.. All of us on our way to Africa.  We met in Germany 20 years ago when our kids were young and have stayed in touch but we don't see each other often enough.  They were heading to South Africa and us back to Rwanda.  We had a fast and furious conversation for a half an hour before we went our separate ways.  We'll meet in Africa this spring or early summer!
and then flying over the Alps!

More Alps...

and more Alps!

And then... back to our tropical back yard!

What a difference a day makes... from snow to sunshine!

What a great time we had at our home where family is..in Pittsburgh.
Thanks to all of you for making it such a great time with all of you!

While it is good to be back here in our Rwandan home,  I find myself thinking of
the next time we'll all be back together.  All those grand kids are just so special and our
own kids are pretty great, too!  After all....
they are the parents of those great grand kids!

Love you all very much!
