Today we took off for the Butler Farm Show... which is more like a
carnival or a County fair...a little over an hour from Pittsburgh.
We left early but as the day progressed it got hotter and hotter.
Isaac, Iris and I, went with Rob and Michelle,
Wyatt, Henry, Oscar and Lois Ann, Nana!
Horses were first, of course and they were beautiful. |
Henry and Nana watching the judging. |
Michelle and Oscar and Rob... also taking in the horses. The Golden Calf! |
Just another good lookin' chick! |
The Prize Winning Rooster:
Fog Horn, Leg Horn.
One of the dairy barns but no milk to drink. |
My favorite picture of the day! No, this isn't church but the boys listening to a teenage girl describing why Four H is so important! |
Iris, too was soaking up her every word... ha! |
They all loved all the goats, big or little. |
The Monster Truck --designed to ride in! Check out the truck bed. Those are seats! Guess you'd have to use a ladder to get into it. |
2nd most favorite picture of the day.... Sitting inside the huge John Deere tractor tire. Iris thinks we are all crazy. |
Rob trying to get all the kids to fit. |
The combine/picker! Never yet seen in Rwanda. |
Nor the lawn mowers... |
Ok, so Iris found the milk! But not from these cows! |
The sheep were not only a hit but they were very friendly. |
Just walking down "Food Trailer Way"...Not yet open. |
The little guy wants a BIG truck! The big guy, (Daddy) does, too! |
Henry checking out the manure spreader... Another piece of equipment not yet seen in Rwanda.... I have seen 2 tractors, though! |
The first carnival ride! The boys out cruising! |
Iris and Gramma on the Merry-go-Round. |
Isaac next to us on his horse--looking tall! |
Henry, Wyatt, Rob and Oscar on the Merry-go-Round right behind us...enjoying the ride. |
We had a great time and a hot time.. A lot hotter here in Pittsburgh than in Kigali!
No one believes me but it is really true...We are on the equator there so you would think it would be hot. But the altitude keeps the weather so perfect year round!
But my kids and grand kids aren't in Kigali---so until they get there...
I will keep coming back into the heat or cold...
whatever it takes to be with them!
love,
mom, oh.. I mean margie
