Walked over to the church and shot these few pictures.
This street goes from the church's street down to Woodlands,
the grocery store.

Don't know what these flowers are...but they are interesting. |
Close-up! Sort of looks like Strawberry Twizzlers!
Hummm.. wondering if I'm missing those? |
Obviously something is wrong here. All the guys were talking about it. What about these concrete forms? You can see they've made the concrete pillar on the corner.
Maybe one was supposed to be here. |
It is hard to imagine how these guys build these buildings, but they do! We are living in one that was
made just like this. |
Everyone is digging in the fields again. |
The entire acreage will soon be cultivated. |
This lady is just getting started on this parcel. |
These folks are too..Most of the fields are cultivated by the women..so it is good to see a guy here. |
The city mouse and the country mouse! I love where we live.
This little one was walking in the deep channels that line every street. They are dry today and make a safe walking place for kids. |
Looking across the fields.. as they get prepared. |
Walking back home and looking down our side street.... |
When I got back, Innocent had planted sunflower seeds in front of the house and marked them so people wouldn't drive on them. |
Each one has its own little plot.
(By the way... they are all up already.... guess this blog
has taken too long to write.) |
This is the lot across the street from us and to the left.
This has all been dug up by hand. |
Can you see the bean plants coming up already? |
Just 3 days ago this field was strewn with old crops. Now it is cultivated and seeded. |

Later that evening our "Men in Blue" were on the march. These are some of the security guys that cover our area.
"To everything there is a season"....but here... there are so seasons as we know them in Pittsburgh. No spring, summer, fall or winter but there is a rhythm of seasons here. Dig, plant, sow and reap, then wait a couple months and do it all over again.... Then....wait a couple months and do it all over again. It rains during the rainy season but not like most places that have a rainy season. Seems here that the clouds roll in between 3-5pm everyday, the wind blows really hard, it rains a little bit.....and that is what the rainy season is. Sept.-Nov. they say is the light rainy season and the heavy one
is from April through May. The dry season however, had virtually no rain. The dust outside, the dust in the house, the dirt on your feet... most everything had a red glow to it or simply a layer of red dust on every surface and a thin red film in your dry throat!
The change in the seasons is happening now... still some dust... but just enough rain to keep it under control. I like this September, almost October weather. The temperatures are a little warmer....but for the most part all year long, it is 80+ in the day time and 60 in the evenings.
So, when I say another season is starting.. it will be fun to see if this "season" will be the same or different from the ones we've seen so far. It seems like Fall here...since there are leaves dropping from some of the trees. But we'll soon see what this time of year holds.
In the meantime, if you are in the States and in the Northeast I hope you are totally enjoying "another season" in your lives!
So far the seasons here are agreeing with us!
love, margie
