This organization is one the AIC helps support.
Jeannie, the director asked if we could come for the girls' graduation and so did.. I was the only one able to go.
Still setting up... even though it was time to start! |
The girls were all assembling! |
Some of the guests. |
This is Jeannie! |
One of the "littlest" guests! |
Time to start... a little late.. but better late than never. A message was delivered by the founder along with lots of Scripture. |
This NGO was started to help battered and HIV women get back on their feet! To help them be creative and to have businesses of their own. |
Singing and Praying! |
Jeannie watching the girls sing. |
Of course, along with the singing was movement and dance. |
They were quite good.. even though they were really being taught to sew! |
This little one next to me approved. His mommy was singing--She was one of the graduates! |
I believe this was a local pastor but not sure. They had quite a long program and it was all in Kinyarwanda so i didn't understand all the words. ( any of the words, really) |
But this was really the medium. |
Much beautiful work that the girls had done. |
But it is the embroidery work that amazed me! |
It is so beautiful and carefully done! One large table cloth with runner and set of napkins....right at $100. Can you imagine??? All hand work. |
Close up of a quilt! |
While everyone was milling around looking at all the girls had done.... |
I went backstage to see the 10 machines that AIC had donated. |
What a gift for these girls! |
When I came out of the back... the girls were singing again. |
And had official dancers, too! |
They got some folks up on their feet to join them. |
KICKIN' UP THE DIRT! |
