Lukimbi Lodge--The Place in Kruger Park

We knew the Lodge was going to be great... but it was better than great!

Being met with a hot wash cloth and fresh juice...
was a nice touch after a 5 hour drive.

This was the little "hut" they took us to... after we signed
paperwork that said we wouldn't hold them responsible
if we were hurt or died in the park..hmmmm.  Should we be worried?

Our little house for the next 3 days had quite a design!

This is the view of the room from the large outdoor porch.

1 side of the bath room

This is the middle of the bathroom...  Can you believe
a big bath tub ahead of a window?
But on the other side of the trees is a huge plain
where the animals can roam.
And on the other side was a huge shower. ...

Another side of our little house!

This was a typical meal spread.
Delicious!
And the food was always fantastic.

This lady called us to the "boma" for dinner....
Boma means something like corral and that's what
we were about to see....

We arrived to a beautiful fire-lit dinner!

We were escorted to our table....
bundled up in our coats... because it was so chilly!

This was the scene.  Very romantic!
I think we should have had blankets!

 Elvira and Bob toasting...
This was the dessert bar....

 This was the dinner buffet!
And this is what the boma looked like in the daylight!

After dinner we went back to our room and found the
bed turned down and mosquito net surrounding the whole bed.

But this was "the" conversation piece....The toliet in a room adjacent
to the bathroom with a full length window open to the outside view!
This is looking in!
This is looking out!
This gives a whole new definition to
WC  ( w-see)

And THIS was the outside shower...
also looking out onto the plains!
Admittedly, a whole new experience. ha!

These are the

 guy and girl

indicators for the

public restrooms!

Clever!
 The lodge dining room.

Finally a seating area that should look out onto the plain.

This little guy---a horn bill came to join us for lunch one day!

These huge ostrich eggs were in a large basket....

The carved tables were so clever.
The pool and deck.

The lobby and the...

...HUGE fireplace.
The game room and reading room....
 Another clever table!
The guys went on a bushwalk and Elvira and I sat and
talked and wrote postcards by the pool.  So wonderful to be
together, to be friends and to be here.
What a cute model..

The upper deck ... and fire pit.
A TV room that I don't think any one used.
Looking from the pool up to the lodge.
And from the dining room ... the river ran just below...

The food at this place was simply unbelievable.   The two
chefs were amazing... We had ostrich and kudu.

Great game flavors!
This was the kudu... surrounded by grilled parsnips.
Sort of looked like a crown and tasted like food fit for a king.
And my favorite piece of furniture...
This highchair!

The staff was fantastic and took great care of us
and all their guests.  They really want you to come back
and to tell others what a great place it is!  And we will....
I mean, we'll tell people,
but i think this is a once in a lifetime experience!

OK..  now you have seen the lodge that is
nestled in Kruger Park...

Let's go see some animals!

love,
margie
